QuickJump is Hyperdrive for your Folders
Posted by: Greg Fischer Post date: October 29th, 2009I have a real obsession for tech gadgets that help me work faster.
Even though I have a basketful of system tray utilities that perform various instant access functions, I’m always test driving new gadgets to multitask my multitasking.
My newest addition is QuickJump from TechHit.
I became hooked on this goodie during its beta test, and I can’t imagine how I’d go back to good old Explorer now. I have hundreds of files spread across scores of folders that I access regularly, and dozens of other folders that I need to get into on rare occasions.
A quick Win+Z (which is FULLY customizable – thank you TechHit!) opens a window with a search field. While you’re typing a few letters of the folder you’re looking to open, the list below the search field instantly drills down to the folders that contain those letters. “Do” offers to open my My Downloads folder. “Rad” suggests my Radiant Internals folder. “Pro” brings me right to Program Docs. In the speed of a few keystrokes from ANYWHERE, I’m looking at a folder that would require layers of menu navigation from the Start button.
It even works in Open/Save dialog boxes. Don’t like Word’s suggestion for where to save that quarterly report you’re working on? Win+Z and a few letters later you’re looking at a folder that would have taken 6 double clicks, a change in view, and an up one level to get to.
So no more Start menu and carpal tunnel for me. QuickJump makes Windows folder management painless – and that’s saying a lot.
BTW, if you use Outlook, you really need to check TechHit’s other products. SimplyFile is my hands down favorite, and definitely worth a test drive. It’s QuickJump for Outlook. I ended up purchasing a license for all of their Outlook tools.
If you’re a Facebook user, definitely visit their page and become a fan (fans get discounts!) and download FBlook for free to access Facebook without leaving Outlook.
